INDIANAPOLIS | The National Weather Service has issued severe flood warnings for multiple counties in Indiana, effective from 7 May 2026 until various expiration times through 10 May 2026. Areas affected include Crawford, Lawrence, Knox, Sullivan, Jackson, and others.

Heavy rainfall has led to rising water levels, prompting officials to warn residents of the dangers associated with flooding. The warnings indicate that flooding is imminent or already occurring, particularly in low-lying areas and near rivers.

Residents are urged to be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. The NWS emphasizes the importance of not attempting to drive through flooded roads, as most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.

Flood warnings are set to expire at different times, with some lasting until 10 May 2026. The NWS plans to issue further updates on Friday afternoon around 12:45 PM EDT.
